Feeling Another’s Pain: Of Asperger’s and Remorse

All parents want to do the best for their children and at some point in every parents life there may be a time when advice, information and support may be welcome. Aspergers Support WA hopes to provide the opportunity to meet and talk with other parents in an informal and friendly atmosphere.

Parenting is arguably the most difficult and important job in the world, but one for which people are often least prepared and supported.

Dealing with Aspergers or High Functioning Autism can be complex and intensify the stress and pressures on families.

Aspergers Support WA aims to provide support and information and help children and parents who have  the need to vent, and be heard and accepted, without judgment;

feel validated, “normal,” respected, and encouraged;

learn and problem-solve;

socialize and help others; and…

build and keep realistic hope for the future.

This is  a support group for parents, children, partners and siblings of those with Aspergers and High Functioning Autism. For those seeking professional help we will aim to provide comprehensive information and contact details of qualified professionals.

The important thing to remember is that your child is unique and precious just like any other child. The greatest gifts you can give him or her is a strong sense of self and high self-esteem, encouragement, and love.

I would also like to acknowledge and thank Trish Walker  Special Education Teacher, for her dedication to her students and her prompt recognition of Asperger traits, especially in girls.
